The Holidays are Coming, The Holidays are Coming!

Date October 16, 2008

If you’re like me, and you’ve gone grocery shopping or to a drug store recently, you’re absolutely dumbfounded when you see shelves lines with bags of chocolaty goodness, along with that creey electronic zombie man moaning and waving at you. Yes, Holiday Season has begun.

Our economy is not what it was last year and we’re all being very careful with our spending. But we don’t want to scrimp too much when it comes to buying gifts for loved ones and/or travelling to see family.

Let’s go down the line:

  • Halloween. You need to buy candy for trick or treaters. If you have young kids, or you’re going to a party, and you’re needle and thread-challenged like me, you need to buy a costume. And don’t forget pumpkins…those tasty little orbs can cost as much as $50 or more, depending where you buy them.
  • Thanksgiving. Gotta have the turkey will all the fixins. And airfare, hotel and car rental if you’re travelling. If you’re having guests over, ask them to bring a dish. I bet they won’t mind.
  • Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa or the holiday you celebrate at this time. This goes without saying – gifts, travel, food, See’s Candy…the list goes on.

Looks like there’s a lot of purchasing to be done! And how can we help?

  • Free Checking and Free Debit Cards. Don’t want to use credit? With a free checking account and a free debit card, you’ve got purchasing power! The money will come out of your checking account as opposed to accumulating a high balance on your credit card.
  • Visa Credit Cards. We offer a credit card that has no annual fees and no cash advance fees. Plus, you will earn points for cash back or travel. Now that’s a nice gift to reward YOU for all your hard work during the holiday season.
  • Home Equity Loans. Own a home? Want to get a possible tax break?* If you’ve got equity available and your credit is good, use the money available in your home for holiday purchases, travel and more. We offer competitive rates and terms.
